Classics Level 3 2021 Greek attitudes towards women

                     Greek attitudes towards women👩

The greek women had practically no rights and were very controlled by the men at all stages in their lives. A woman's purpose was to raise children and pretty much stay in her household. Some of the most important women were the ones like Pandora who was the first female mortal to be placed on earth. Her importance is very permanent in the greek mythology due to the fact she allowed for the procreation of the human race. Men were always seen as the hero and strong whereas women were seen as troublesome and only useful for raising children and giving birth. A classic way of showing this is the story of Medea and the way she helped Jason in his quest to find the Golden Fleece and when he left her for another women she murdered their children.
